Identification of PIM1 Substrates Reveals a Role for NDRG1 Phosphorylation in Prostate Cancer
- Description
This study performed a chemical genetic screen to identify PIM1 substrates in prostate cancer cells. They identified 25 previously unknown PIM1 substrates and their phosphorylation sites. Among the identified PIM1 substrates, N-Myc Downstream-Regulated Gene 1 (NDRG1) was shown to be as an inhibitor of metastasis. The study demonstrated that PIM1 phosphorylation of NDRG1 reduced its stability, nuclear localization, and interaction with androgen receptor. This dataset contains mass spectrometry data as well as supplementary data tied to the publication. The supplementary data includes PIM1 substrate phosphorylation in metastatic versus primary prostate cancer, prostate tumor microarray sample data, scoring, and statistical analysis, and source data for figures.
