Description
To develop and evaluate a potential comprehensive instrument for the assessment of catatonia in the pediatric population, the investigators reviewed a recording of clinical assessments undertaken with a 13 year old patient. The video was shown once before the raters independently completed each of the following assessments to determine inter-rater agreement: Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale; Pediatric Catatonia Rating Scale; International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11); and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-V) criteria. Along with the items in the Northoff Catatonia Scale, the criteria in the aforementioned instruments were also reviewed to collate a list of key features of catatonia. The investigators utilized the new checklist to assess the presence or absence of criteria for catatonia, as well as the limitations of remote clinical assessment via a recording.
