Description

The Buzsáki Lab has shared designs for a 3D-printed metal microdrive and head cap system for freely-moving rodents and sample electrophysiological recordings. The modular design allows for recovery and reuse of silicon probes in multiple experiments with mice and Long-Evans rats.

The .step files for the metal microdrive are optimized for stainless steel 316L in 20 micrometer resolution and aluminum AlSi10Mg in high resolution. The .stl files for the plastic microdrive and cap systems are optimized for Formlabs Form2 printers and Grey-v4/Clear-v4 Resin. Electrophysiological recordings were completed with a male mouse (DBA2/J, wild type) and a Long Evans rat (wild type).
