The Program for Medical Education Innovations and Research (PrMEIR) has created a registry of potentially accessible routinely-collected educational data (e.g., exams, clinical assessments, needs assessments, performance ratings) to support NYU School of Medicine's evidence-based medical education and training programs. Registry data includes all those learners in NYU’s School of Medicine who have consented to participate. Under the registry, the PrMEIR team pulls together provided data (from the researcher) and requested routine data (when available) and links them together before removing non-consenters and identifying information. A clean, research ready dataset is produced at the end of this process.

Submitting a request to the medical education research registry allows researchers to avoid a separate IRB submission, assuming the request meets specifications.

The Resident Registry can cover routinely-collected data spanning the following topics/areas (*indicates data readily available at PrMEIR, all other data will need to be produced or collected elsewhere to be linked):

• Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) performance*
• Assessments of clinical performance
• Shelf Exam performance

• Board and/or In-Service Exams
• 360 Assessments
• Unannounced Standardized Patient visit performance*
• Electronic health/medical record (EHR/EMR), including chart reviews
• Panel performance
• Pre- and post-curriculum questionnaires
• Program evaluation/quality improvement
• Needs assessment surveys/questionnaires
• Admissions/entrance data*

Please note that due to volume, these requests may take 4-6 weeks to complete and a consultation regarding a request submission will occur as needed.
