Description

Data from the Examining Norms and Behaviors Linked to Eating (ENABLE) project was collected via a mixed-methods approach.

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 low-income Chinese-American three-generation families to collect information on attitudes and beliefs on the consumption of healthy food items (e.g. fruits, vegetables, brown rice, and low sodium products) and the behaviors of their social networks.

Additionally survey data was collected from 150 Chinese-American individuals from New York City’s Manhattan Chinatown on their place of residence, closest grocery or prepared foods store, 3 primary destinations for the purchasing of groceries and prepared food items for an assessment of their ethnic food environment.
