Description

This dataset contains survey data that was collected in 2015 from 2,460 students aged 18 to 25 years old who were enrolled in the City University of New York (CUNY) system. The study was designed to identify patterns of hookah use, peer influence, and associated risk behaviors among a diverse student population. Stratified probability sampling on the criteria listed below was used to develop statistical weights for analysis.

  • Education: Type of college, level of study, student status, number of credits, grade point average (GPA), financial aid status, year of enrollment
  • Demographics: race, gender, age or date of birth
Survey respondents also provided information on the following topics:

  • Ethnicity
  • Employment status
  • Income
  • Smoking status
  • Smoking frequency
  • Social influences
  • Binge drinking
  • Marijuana use
