- Description
- The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAHMSA) maintains the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS), a national data system of annual admissions (TEDS-A) to and discharges (TEDS-D) from substance abuse treatment facilities in the United States. TEDS collects information on service setting, treatment details, and demographic variables from state agencies on all admissions and discharges of patients aged 12 or older. Data collection for TEDS-A began in 1992 and TEDS-D began in 2000. National and state-level data is available for public use.

- A selection of TEDS data tables and annual reports can be downloaded through SAHMSA. Historical TEDS-A and TEDS-D data collected between 1992 and 2012 may be accessed from the ICPSR data repository.
